Dr. Jason Tham named new Co-Chair of CPTSC Administrators’ Committee
CPTSC is pleased to announce that Dr. Jason Tham will begin serving as the new Co-Chair of its Administrators’ Committee, to work in that role alongside Dr. Julia Romberger, current Chair of the committee.
Tham, an Assistant Professor of Technical Communication and Rhetoric at Texas Tech University, co-directs the User Experience (UX) Lab in the Department of English. He teaches courses in UX research, information design, and digital rhetorics.
He earned the PhD in rhetoric and scientific and technical communication from the University of Minnesota in May 2019. While completing the degree, he taught at Metropolitan State University in St. Paul, MN (adjunct), University of North Texas in Denton, TX (online adjunct), and Guangdong University of Foreign Studies in Guangzhou, China (visiting scholar).
Between 2015-2019, he was a researcher affiliated with the Wearables Research Collaboratory at Minnesota. He investigated the sociocultural aspects of wearable technologies and deployed devices like the Google Glass, Google Cardboard, Ricoh Theta 360, and other gadgets to examine the usefulness of wearable technologies in various learning contexts.
Currently, he is working on a book and few journal articles that focus on design thinking approaches in technical communication pedagogy and practice.
